Inventory and terminals

Stock by owner, kept as an account. Each tank and terminal carries opening stock, receipts, liftings, losses and adjustments for every owner, and Converge HCA checks the calculated closing stock against the measured one.

First-release scope. This page describes what the first release of Converge HCA covers. Book a demo to see what is ready today.

WHAT IT DOES

Opening, plus receipts, less liftings and losses, equals closing

A terminal holds crude for several owners at once. Converge HCA keeps a stock account for each owner at each tank, terminal and pipeline: opening stock, plus receipts from allocated production, less liftings and losses, plus or minus approved adjustments, gives closing stock.

The calculated closing stock is compared with the measured closing stock from the tank tickets. The difference must sit within a tolerance worked out from the uncertainty of the meters involved; outside it, the imbalance goes to review with a named owner.

Pipeline and terminal losses are shared among the injectors by the formula in the transport agreement. The formula is a configurable rule, because loss-sharing formulas differ between systems and are not always published.

KEY CAPABILITIES

Tanks, stock accounts and losses

Every tank, described once and versioned.

  • Tank register with shell material, roof type and floating-roof table
  • Strapping tables versioned, each with its certificate and effective date
  • Tank tickets from the measurement module
  • Daily stock for every tank

Stock account

One account per owner, per period.

  • Opening stock, receipts, liftings, losses and adjustments for each owner
  • Receipts posted from allocated production
  • Liftings posted from bills of lading
  • Calculated closing compared with measured closing

Losses

Shared the way the agreement says.

  • Loss formula held in the transport contract
  • Losses shared among injectors by that formula
  • Rules date-effective and approved before use

Controls

Imbalances are explained, not absorbed.

  • Tolerance worked out from meter uncertainty
  • Imbalances outside tolerance sent to review with an owner
  • Strapping-table changes cannot be back-dated into a locked period

WORKFLOW

From tank gauge to closing stock

  1. Register the tanks

Each tank with its strapping table and effective dates.

  2. Gauge

Tank tickets give measured stock, daily and at month-end.

  3. Receive

Allocated production arrives as receipts for each owner.

  4. Lift

Cargoes take stock out of the lifter’s account.

  5. Share the losses

Pipeline and terminal losses go to injectors by contract formula.

  6. Reconcile

Calculated closing stock against measured, within tolerance or explained.

FAQ

Inventory and terminals: common questions

Can one terminal hold stock for several owners?

Yes. Every tank, terminal and pipeline keeps a separate stock account for each owner, so each owner’s receipts, liftings and losses are visible on their own.

How are pipeline losses shared?

By the formula in your transport agreement, held as a configurable rule. Loss-sharing formulas differ from system to system and some are not published, so none is assumed.

What happens when calculated and measured stock disagree?

If the difference sits within the tolerance from the meters’ uncertainty, it is recorded. If not, the imbalance goes to review with a named owner and must be explained before the period can close.

Is in-transit stock tracked?

Not in the first release. In-transit inventory is planned for the release after.

Every barrel in the tank has an owner.
